After a month of much-needed recuperation, our favorite dynamic duo is back in action! Amidst a torrential downpour in London (and through much of the UK), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the premiere of Disney Nature’s African Cats this evening. This is their first public engagement since William’s return from duty in the Falkland Islands in mid-March.
I can’t help it. I love these two more than I could ever express. And, yes, William is a gentleman to hold his wife’s umbrella. The Duchess looks fabulous, very chic–the peplum dress with jade and gold trim is by Matthew Williamson. Peplum–theshort overskirt attached to the bodice of a dress or skirt–is “happening” right now, and I can’t say I’ve been a fan. Until now, of course, and now I am most especially a fan! I would love to wear this dress.
It’s like they’re saying, “Yes, we get it, this weather is awful but thanks for coming out!” They seem happy to be back together, with the Duchess glancing over at her husband with a dazzling smile during the evening. The premiere benefited The Tusk Trust, an animal conservation charity of which the Duke is patron (A US-based event for the charity was where Reese Witherspoon famously shook hands with our Duchess, afterward declaring she hoped to be friends with the new Royal).
Tonight’s film is a kickoff for an eventful upcoming week, and I look forward to seeing more of these lovely people in the next few days.
