Ridiculous Royal Wedding Memorabilia (44 days until the wedding)

Royal Wedding tankards, as exciting as they are, are old news. Heck, even the Royal Mint commemorative coin is now behind the curve in terms of Royal Wedding memorabilia!

(I will say I like the above design more than the one they churned out for the engagement–this one is closer in resemblance, makes them look less ghoulish.)

But the point is: On which items should you spend your money, now that tankards and coins are behind the times? Do you want a doll?

People.com only reported this today, though Nikki had sent me the link nearly a week ago. The Franklin Mint is… well, let’s just say I have a fraught relationship with them and it all stems from Diana. Their Diana, Princess of Wales memorabilia was similar to what I’m sure they will eventually roll out for Catherine Middleton: dolls, plates, wedding dresses, and the like. I always kind of wanted some of the dolls, but the likenesses were not accurate enough for me to spring for the purchase; however, this didn’t prevent me from tearing out their advertisements from any available magazine. Considering I couldn’t afford the “three easy payments of $65.00,” the advertisements had to do at the time. I’m interested to see what the Franklin Mint will think of next…

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about the “Royal Jewels” condom line; I think this is particularly nasty, but they’ll do anything for a buck and, yes, if I had the opportunity to buy them, I probably would (all in the spirit of irony).

What I didn’t know about until last week were the Royal Wedding DECALS:

I’m sorry, but: WHY!?? Why would you EVER want this? Sigh–yet again, even as I rail against the injustice of it all, I knew that if I came across them I would purchase them–NOT to wear, naturally, just to enshrine in my collection of “absurd yet irresistable Royal Wedding memorabilia.”

To be continued…

  1. I think those decals could be really useful for any anglophiles trying to quit a nail-biting habit.

    • You DARE suggest that someone would use those, sullying their value?!?! Haha. I know, right? I kind of want to buy some…
